About Us and the Horses

Haven Sporthorses (HSH) is owned by College Graduate and IHSA Equestrian Captain Team Member (1997-2001), Julia Bartel and Farrier, John Haven. HSH started in 2001 with the purchase of an 8 month old colt, Lordfurst from Sonia Thomas in Gainesville, FL. In 2004 , yearling Fullalley was purchased from Klaus who works with High Point Hanoverians in Chestertown, MD, and 6 year Uraneeum was purchased in 2007 along with the imported filly, Codea.  Julia Bartel has been involved with horses for 25 years. Background includes dressage and hunter/jumper. John Haven has been working with horses for 9 years now and has a natural talent for it, so he decided in March 2006 to become a farrier and he graduated from the extensive 16 week class at Mitch Taylor's Kentucky Horse Shoeing School in Mt.Eden, KY.

Every once in a while we will have some horses for sale. Foals will be for sale from Fullalley, Uraneeum, and other mares purchased down the road, check back for updates.

2007 Passported KPWN filly, Celtic Lady M2S (Condios/Ekstein/Cruising), she has very interesting bloodlines and is bred to jump but has the movement for dressage too.  Could make a nice eventer.  She and the other yearling will grow up together and go the the keuring together as 3 year olds.
